Ingredients:
For the Dough:
2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
½ cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
¼ cup granulated sugar
⅓ cup milk, at room temperature
⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
3 ¾ - 4 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
For the Filling:
4-5 medium-sized Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
⅓ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1-2 tablespoons milk
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, a pinch of sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the activated yeast mixture, sugar, milk, melted butter, 3 ¾ cups of flour, salt, and eggs. Mix until a soft dough forms. If needed, add more flour a little at a time until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
Prepare the Filling: In a bowl, mix the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
Assemble the Cake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan or a tube pan.
Divide and Fill the Dough: Punch down the risen dough and divide it into small golf ball-sized portions. Roll each ball into a circle, brush with melted butter, and layer with the apple mixture. Stack the circles on top of each other.
Second Rise: Place the stacked dough in the prepared pan. Cover and let it rise for 30-45 minutes.
Bake the Cake: Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
Prepare the Glaze: While baking the cake, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Glaze and Serve: Once the cake is done baking and slightly cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top. Let it set for a few minutes. Transfer to a pedestal stand for a beautiful presentation against a light background.
Serve and Enjoy: Slice and serve the apple cinnamon pull-apart cake for a delightful treat!
